Yesterday I learned that there were no women on the Student Government executive board here at BCC.

Although, the men of the board were quick to point out that the next board may be all female.

Just pointing out a little something that I found interesting.
And we need to get some women on that board!!

Anita's no longer on the Student Government Council Executive Board?

Well, if we're underrepresented in Student Government Council, we're certainly not in Phi Theta Kappa--although I'd certainly like to see a female in the president position, rather than in one of the vice president positions. Out of about nine students who attended yesterday's Phi Theta Kappa officer candidates meeting, only one was male. Two other females who didn't attend the meeting were running for office.

The only bad thing about this is that the male will undoubtedly get a position--possibly even president position, if this is what he decides to run for. Members will probably try to reach gender parity with the candidates as they try to do in colleges, which means that it's more difficult for any specific female to stand out. What else is new?

I don't have any regrets because I've done quite well as Vice President of Fellowship, but one of the reasons why I didn't run for president despite the continual encouragement of the previous chapter president (also male) was because I knew there was no way I would win more votes than Rafael due to my gender as well as my age. If I had run for this position and lost, I wouldn't have held any position at all. It initially upset me that the four vice presidents were all female, "serving" the male president, but I've gotten over this.
